The long-standing feud finally came to a conclusion at Diriyah Arena on Sunday evening, after two previous scheduled meetings had to be cancelled. The two men finally clashed yesterday in what was, undoubtedly one of the biggest ‘influencer boxing’ matches of the year. Fans have been eagerly anticipating the fight, which would see two of the sport’s biggest names go head-to-head in a battle for supremacy.

It was on Sunday when Jake Paul, a social media star-turned-boxer, faced Tommy Fury in an eight-round cruiserweight fight, finally heeding the calls to fight a “real boxer.” Although Paul fought well, Fury was able to narrowly escape with a split decision victory.

One of the highlights of the fight was when Paul landed a perfectly timed left hand, causing Fury to lose balance and touch the canvas for a knockdown. However, Fury was not seriously hurt by the punch and managed to recover to finish the fight.

Despite Paul’s knockdown, Fury won the fight with two judges scoring the bout 76-73 in his favour, while one judge scored it 75-74 for Paul. The knockdown added some extra drama before the official scorecards were read.

With a triumphant over YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, Fury won the newly created WBC Diriyah Belt and, controversially, rose to the WBC cruiserweight ranks. Fury was retaining an undefeated 8-0 professional record.
